Court highlights home care and home hospice month

During Monday's Cooke County Commissioners Court, commissioners voted 5-0 to proclaim November as Home Care and Hospice Month in Cooke County.

Cooke County Judge John Roane presented the proclamation to Home Hospice of Cooke County during the meeting.

After hearing from insurance vendor AFLAC regarding flex spending plans, commissioners set aside any further action until the benefit workshop scheduled in March takes place and commissioners decide whether to include a flex spending account option in the budget for next year.

During the court, commissioners took action to complete the parking lot of the Cooke County Justice Center with a 5-0 vote.

Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve a change to scope of Edward Byrne memorial justice assistance grant for the purchase of a vehicle for the Cooke County Sheriff's Office.

Commissioners voted 5-0 to ratify Judge Roane's signature on a letter of intent for the energy efficiency and conservation block grant in the amount of $75,000 or more and 5-0 to approve a resolution approving the application for the energy efficiency and conservation block grant. The county is looking at possible alternatives for heating and cooling for the restored county courthouse.

Two maintenance agreements with Dustin's Office Machines were approved by the commissioners with a 5-0 vote. The agreements approved were for a copy machine located in the district attorney's office and a copy machine located in the county attorney's office. Commissioners took no action during the meeting regarding a copy machine to be located in the district judge's office.

Specifications and advertising for bid to purchase heavy haul truck(s) beginning Nov. 11 for road and bridge precincts were approved by a 5-0 vote.

Surplus and trade of a 2004 Ford McCoy-Miller Ambulance, Cooke County Unit #0492, was approved by a 5-0 vote.

Bid specifications and advertising for a bid to purchase a used dozer for Precinct 4 for road and bridge was approved by a 5-0 vote.

An addendum for the courthouse restoration construction manager at Risk Proposal, regarding subcontractor's bid form was approved by a 5-0 vote.

A personal service agreement with Paul Becker for track hoe and bulldozer service for Precinct 3 and 4 was approved by the Commissioners by a 5-0 vote.

Commissioners decided no action was necessary concerning item 20 on the agenda, concerning the restoration of the Cooke County Courthouse.

There were no public comments on non-agenda items during the meeting.

Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the consent items which included FY 2009 budget amendments, FY 2010 budget amendments, monthly bills, payroll and all related expenses, employee terminations and/or appointments, bond for District Court Baliff Justin Armstrong, juvenile probation department bonds, interlocal agreement with Myra Volunteer Fire Department, interlocal agreement with Lake Kiowa Volunteer Fire Department, interlocal agreement with Moss Lake Volunteer Fire Department, interlocal agreement with Muenster Public Library.

Consent items approved also included FY 2009 Chapter 59 asset forfeiture report for the Cooke County constable of Precinct 1, FY 2009 Chapter 59 asset forfeiture report for the Cooke County constable of Precinct 4, FY 2009 Chapter 59 asset forfeiture report for the Cooke County sheriff's office, FY 2009 asset forfeiture report for the district attorney's office, EMS agreement for ambulance internship between Cooke County and training division.com, quit claim deed to the City of Muenster for all of Willow Street between Eddy Street and Hillside Drive in the Southtown Subdivision No. 2 as shown by the plat recorded in cabinet A-slide 348T, monetary donation in memory of Mrs. Mary Ellen Turbeville in the amount of $25 to the Cooke County Library, monetary donation in memory of Mr. Curt Henderson in the amount of $25 to the Cooke County Library and the contract with Woodbine Water Supply for the installation of a road crossing located on CR 297 in Precinct 2.

Following executive session, the Commissioner's Court took no action.
