Shanghai Benchmark Stock Index Hit 5-month High

Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges went bully on April 8, 2011, and ChiNext, a start-up board of the Shenzhen bourse continued rebounding.
Shanghai Composite Index, the benchmark stock index, closed at 3,030.02, growing 0.74% and a record high since November 16, 2010; Shenzhen Component Index closed at 13,036.23, growing 1.13%. Aggregate turnover on the two bourses arrived at CNY 251 billion, inching down over a day earlier.
Total 1,503 stocks grew and 417 stocks dropped. Except stocks receiving special treatment and not conducting shareholding reforms, 13 stocks hit limit-up, and no stock hit limit-down.
Medical device stocks led in growth and non-ferrous metal and auto stocks went strong, but Disney concept stocks and real estate stocks lagged behind. Jiangsu Alcha Aluminum Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 002160) hit limit-up to close at CNY 27.54 a share; Yunnan Copper Industry Co, Ltd. (SZSE: 000878) grew 2.62% to close at CNY 26.64 a share, and Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (SHSE: 601600) grew 1.38% to end at CNY 11.79 a share.
