China may issue pilot program to allow insurance companies to set up fund companies within this year at the earliest, China Securities Journal reported on Friday.
The report quoted an unnamed source as saying that the pilot plan has been submitted to the State Council for discussion.
Analysts said that this program would expand insurance companies' management capital and diversify their profit sources.
At present, insurance companies could indirectly invest in the fund industry.
