Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. is offering companies protection against computer viruses, cyberattacks and other risks associated with Web-based computing.
The "Cloud Protector" insurance, available from this month, starts with a risk analysis. MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc. (TSE:8725) subsidiary Mitsui Sumitomo then tailors the coverage to the results, making it simple to sign up. Risks are reassessed every year.
The insurance compensates firms for losses caused by viruses and hackers, as well as natural disasters.
