Automobile insurance rules call being
BOSTON - State Insurance Commissioner Nonnie Burnes said she plans to propose additional rules in the coming weeks to address concerns about his plan to abolish the use of accident-related surcharges on automobile insurance. Burnes plans to the stage so that advice is no longer accepting new cases after April 1 as part of a much broader effort to encourage competition among auto insurers and to state that the market insurance more like most other States markets. Burnes said consumers would be able to appeal their cases to their own insurer, but many insurance agents say that insurers are biased in their decisions.
Perrault at the head of the Brookline Bank
BROOKLINE - After losing his short-term employment as CEO of Sovereign Bank, Paul Perrault has been used to be CEO of a smaller institution, Brookline Bank. Perrault will succeed Richard Chapman, who was CEO of the Bank Brookline for 35 years. Perrault was CEO of Chittenden Corp. Vermont from 1990 to 2008 before the bank was purchased by the People's United Financial Corp. Perrault was used to be CEO of Sovereign, which will be based in Boston From early January, but then a minority investor Banco Santander decided later this month to install one of its leaders after reaching an agreement to buy the rest of Sovereign it does not already own.
New advertising campaign for New Balance
BOSTON - New Balance launches new advertising campaign this month to highlight its "Total Fit" philosophy exercisers and dedication to achieving high levels of fitness. The campaign will include television, print ads and online, with a main target of the ability of runners, athletes and 25 - to 34 years. The television campaign will break nationally on 16 March ESPN/ESPN2 networks. The running shoe company of the Boston campaign was developed by BBDO New York. New Balance A spokesman refused to say how much money the company is spending on the campaign.
State health insurance rates increased by 3.2%
BOSTON - The Group Insurance Commission, the body that administers health insurance for state employees and many municipal employees, said it has approved 3.2 percent average rate increases through its 15 Employees and Medicare health plans for the fiscal year that begins in July. The agency noted that the increase is less than what officials have seen in the current year, when the average increase was 6.4 percent.
$ 31M in unclaimed tax refunds in the State
BOSTON - Nearly 30,000 Massachusetts taxpayers who have not filed federal income tax return in 2005, still waiting for money for them - if the file to collect repayments by April 15. The Internal Revenue Service said that the amount of unclaimed funds waiting Massachusetts taxpayers who do not have a tax return in 2005 was nearly $ 31 million. The IRS estimates that half of those who could claim refunds for 2005 would be over $ 638.
