HOLIDAYMAKERS are being urged not to scrimp on adequate travel insurance this summer.
Kwik Fit Insurance managing director Brendan Devine, said: "Most people take out holiday insurance if they're going to Torremolinos, but tend not to think about it if they are going to Torquay.
"It's important to remember it's just as easy to lose money or luggage in the West Country or the Highlands of Scotland as it in when going abroad."
The company's recent survey revealed that almost one in five admitted they had been on holiday without taking out travel insurance. Fifty per cent said they would take a holiday this summer despite the economic downturn, while 83 per cent, said theywould not go into debt to fund a holiday.
Brendan added: "Travel insurance really doesn't add much to the cost of your holiday.
"Not only does it give peace of mind, it also ensures you don't end up with additional expense when you get home if something goes wrong."
Checking your car insurance is up to date is also a must if you are travelling long distances in the UK this summer.
