Over 50s insurance brokers Castle Cover are delighted to have achieved a record number of sales this June, as more and more 'silver surfers' seek out the best deals online.

Last month, over 2000 home insurance sales were registered on the site, which delivers comprehensive insurance policies, exclusively for the over 50s.

This news comes in the wake of studies demonstrating that the number of 'silver surfers', a term for internet users over the age of 50, has risen drastically over the past few months. For example, popular Social Networking site Facebook recently reported that membership figures for those over the age of 55 have risen by an incredible 513%, over the past 6 months.

By contrast, the number of 18-30 year old users, the site's targeted demographic, has fallen sharply. This reflects a shift in internet usage, with more and more seniors embracing the power of new technology and involving themselves in online activity.
