With effect from 1 September 2009, customers buying the Society's 5-Star rated buildings and contents insurance together will receive a 20% discount now and a 20% discount off next year's premium on renewal. In addition to this, customers can also benefit from an extra 20 pounds Sterling off the premium in the first year if their main current account is held with Nationwide and the application is made in a branch or over the phone.
This latest offer underlines Nationwide's commitment to its home insurance customers and is good news for people who want a home insurance product for the long term. Furthermore, it is the latest in a series of extra benefits to be offered to Nationwide's FlexAccount customers. Alternatively, all customers who buy online will receive a 10% discount.
By taking advantage of this offer from Nationwide, home insurance customers will receive a product that has been rated 5-Star for both cover and service by independent reviewers -- making it even more appealing for customers to stick with the Society for the long term.
Nationwide's insurance director, Robin Bailey, says: "With growing access to comparison sites, and consumers concerned about price in the current climate, there is a greater tendency for people to switch to new deals in a very competitive marketplace. For some, the cost of a policy at renewal can take preference over the level of service and cover that it provides. However, this is a decision they could come to regret if they ever need to make a claim. By buying a home insurance policy with Nationwide, our customers can benefit from discounts this year and next, as well as independently acclaimed cover and service. Therefore, there should be no need for them to go anywhere else!"
Key features of Nationwide's 5-Star Rated home insurance include:
-- No extra charge for paying monthly by Direct Debit;
-- The cost of temporary accommodation if the home becomes uninhabitable
due to insured damage;
-- Unlimited buildings cover for eligible properties;
-- Up to 1,000 pounds Sterling cover for contents in the garden and up to
500 pounds Sterling cover for plants in the garden;
-- Cover for accidental damage to home entertainment equipment;
-- Cover for MP3 players and music downloads;
-- Up to 500 pounds Sterling cover for the spoiled contents of the fridge
and freezer;
-- Cover for students' belongings while at university or college (up
to sum insured).
Nationwide also offers home insurance extras such as 24 hour Home Emergency Assistance, Legal Assistance, Accidental Damage, and Personal Possessions.
Nationwide Building Society also offers up to 75% on car insurance with no claims discount.
