Automobile insurance costs vary by state, city, county, 
 and other regional factors; and by individual driver's records; and by coverage options, as well as other similar circumstances.


That said, we can only come up with some very average "ball-park estimates"; and individual actual costs will be different.

Many Insurance Company websites offer insurance cost calculators geared to zip codes; which provide probably the best estimates available, since you can input all the detailed specifics they ask for.

Unfortunately, most of these sites also want your email address in order for them to send the "free quote" on insurance rates. 

The Allstate Insurance Company website offers a "ballpark estimate" calculator, and does not require that you submit name or email address. 

Using the calculator offered at Allstate's website, we learn the following:

"Ballpark estimated cost" for insuring (through Allstate) a 1998 Honda Passport SUV; 2WD; 4Dr; 6Cyl vehicle in Los Angles, CA, zip code 90040; by a 35 year old single male who owns his own home and has had continuous auto insurance for 10 years as primary driver; and a 35 year old single female as secondary driver; neither of whom have had any accidents in the last 5 years; (I said there were a lot of 'circumstances' that affect auto insurance rates!):

Calculated cost:  From $490 for Allstate's Silver Basic Plan to $700 for Allstate's Platinum Enanced Plus! Plan.
