Although 2008 was forged by layoffs and economic struggles, the New Year means to rejuvenate hope for job seekers.
While many companies continue to make mass layoffs, other companies are moving their focus to recruit heavily in the beginning of 2009.
"It is difficult for the economy, no doubt," said Andrea Hough, Vice President for the acquisition of talent ServiceMaster, a lawn and landscape maintenance company. "However, I keep job seekers be thoughtful about where they will work and not acting out of desperation. There are some very large companies with strong ethics in need of employees willing to be part of a growing organization. "
If you are looking for work in the new year, here is a series of these large companies in various industries, seeking to engage a wide range of jobs in 2009 despite the tough economy:
1. Company: 7-Eleven
