BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AIR Worldwide, a leading provider of catastrophe risk modeling and analytical services for insurance-linked securities, was awarded the 2009 "˜Adviser of the Year' by Trading Risk magazine. The Adviser of the Year Award recognizes excellence and achievement in the insurance-linked capital markets sector and is given to the company that has done the most to foster innovation and further the development of the ILS market.

An independent panel of industry leaders selected AIR for the award after reviewing nominations from companies around the world. The award was presented at the Trading Risk Awards ceremony at the Great Eastern Hotel in London on 25 June 2009, to acknowledge and reward the pioneering spirit that is essential to the sector's development.

"Congratulations to AIR Worldwide for their outstanding accomplishments and innovation in the insurance-linked-securities market," said Rebecca Bole, Editor of Trading Risk Magazine. "AIR is worthy of recognition due to their involvement in many of the insurance industry's landmark securitization transactions, including many that introduced new perils and new instruments to the market, as well as their leading role in developing new technologies for managing risk."

"Receiving this inaugural award is a great honor for AIR in that it recognizes the hard work and exceptional customer service provided by our cross-functional team of scientists, analysts and consultants," said David Lalonde, FCAS, FCIA, MAAA, senior vice president at AIR Worldwide. "By leveraging our vast experience working with all types of instruments covering a wide variety of perils and all regions of the world, AIR continues to be the modeler of choice for companies pursuing potential securitization options."

AIR senior risk consultant Pascal Karsenti was also one of three finalists for Trading Risk's "Young Meteor of the Year" award. Karsenti is responsible for overseeing AIR's capital markets activities.
