Site Includes Reorganized Format, Enhanced Features

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 7, 2009) — The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announces the launch of a newly redesigned Web site. The more modern, streamlined format enhances the user experience, providing greater access to information for regulators, consumers and industry.

"The updated NAIC Web site reflects our continued commitment to providing information and resources that are readily available to the thousands of visitors to our site each day,” said Therese M. (Terri) Vaughan, Ph.D., NAIC Chief Executive Officer. “The new site is cleaner and easier to navigate without sacrificing the quality of content you can expect to find on the NAIC Web site. In addition, the development of the new Center for Insurance Policy and Research (CIPR) provided us with an opportunity to create a site focused on communicating our research and public policy activities."

The addition of the CIPR site is a prominent feature of the redesign. Content from the research and government relations divisions of the NAIC has been moved to the CIPR site to allow for ease of use and to serve as a central point of information gathering. The CIPR site will house reference documents, including issue briefs, speeches and Congressional testimony. State and national insurance data will also be available on the new site.

Another element of the redesigned site is the NAIC’s Google search application. This new tool, which provides a substantial cost savings to the organization, will offer users a more refined and intuitive search experience.

Insure U, the NAIC’s consumer education program, also underwent a redesign earlier this summer. Information that was previously featured on the NAIC’s Consumer page has been consolidated and moved into the Insure U curriculum, presented in an easy-to-find format. The Insure U library now stores information about auto, health, homeowners and life insurance and includes guides on all lines of insurance in downloadable formats. The new Insure U Web site still contains insurance information according to specific life situations with special sections for long-term care insurance, disaster preparedness and frequently asked questions regarding AIG.
