The Injury Lawyers Warn on Insurance Fraud Dangers

The Injury Lawyers (http://www.theinjurylawyers.co.uk/), the UK's leading personal injury claims lawyers, are warning that people involved in car insurance fraud run the risk of serious injury for themselves, with no compensation.
The warning comes as the UK insurance industry warned that both the number of uninsured drivers, and the number committing insurance fraud, was rising steeply.
Last month the Association of British Insurers (ABI) reported that insurance fraud had risen to GBP1.9 billion (1). And last week, both Aviva and Admiral reported that car insurance fraud had risen another 30% over the first six months of this year (2).
According to Mike Gibson at The Injury Lawyers, "What many people forget is that car insurance provides an important protection for both the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. If there is no valid insurance in the event of a claim, then the result can be extremely costly to the individuals involved."
Mike Gibson also underlines the health risks to those affected. "The impact of even minor injuries from an accident on a person's every day life should never be underestimated. Whiplash injuries are especially common, and can be especially severe. Left untreated or undiagnosed, a whiplash injury can become debilitating, preventing someone from being able to work. Whiplash is ordinarily covered by insurance companies to provide compensation in the event of a whiplash claim (http://www.whiplash-claims.com/), not to treat the injury, but instead provide income and compensation because of it. Without appropriate insurance cover, a person suffering from whiplash symptoms can be left out of pocket paying for car repairs, lose income from taking time off work, as well as suffer pain without any means of compensation."
Mike Gibson warns against taking risks with cover. "At the end of the day, someone may think they are saving money by being uninsured, or providing wrong details to get a cheaper policy, but in the end it can end up costing them tens of thousands of pounds instead."
