Ace Appoints New President, North America Property

Ace Group has appointed Paul McNamee as president, North America Property. He will manage property-related products and services for Ace USA, Ace Canada and Ace Westchester.
McNamee's responsibilities will include Ace USA's retail broker-distributed property and first party lines, including global property, inland marine, ocean marine, aviation, and the company's managing general agent relationship with Starr Technical Risks Agency Inc. He will report to Brian Dowd, chief executive officer, Insurance North America, and John Lupica, president and CEO, Ace USA. He is expected to begin full-time in early November.
According to Ace, McNamee has held a variety of property portfolio management positions in its Asia-Pacific and European operations throughout his 14 years with the organization. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and head of Ace International Property.
Ace USA recently announced the appointment of Keith Mattheessen as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer of the Ace Risk Management Energy Underwriting Unit. This new unit within Ace Risk Management will provide a centralized point of access for specialized insurance coverage and risk management solutions to the energy industry (BestWire, Sept. 15, 2009).
