Insurance Brokerage Opens in Aliso Viejo

San Diego-based insurance brokerage Barney & Barney LLC is opening an Orange County office this week in Aliso Viejo.

The brokerage is going after midsize to large companies in healthcare, technology, construction and the hotel industry, spokeswoman Deborah Jondall said.

Barney & Barney is entering a crowded market. Marsh Inc. and Aon Corp. dominate the local insurance brokerage business, which includes several other players.

"We love challenges," Jondall said.

The brokerage offers property and casualty, employee benefits and individual insurance policies. Major insurers underwrite them, Jondall said.

The Aliso Viejo office is set to have eight workers, mostly brokers.
