The committee received testimony at the hearing, which was conducted on June 24, from Karen Pollitz, policy director of health policy institute, Georgetown Public Policy Institute at Georgetown University; John F. Holahan, director of the Health Policy Research Center; David Gratzer, managing director, Senior fellow of Manhattan Institute for Policy Research in New York; Richard Kirsch, national campaign manager for health care; Mike Draper, owner of SMASH; Peter Lee, executive director for National Health Policy, Pacific Business Group on Health; Gerald M. Shea, Special assistant to the president, AFL-CIO; Jennie Chin Hansen, president of AARP Randel K. Johnson, senior vice president of Labor, immigration and employee benefits at the chamber of commerce; Dan Baxter, managing director at the William F.
