Chicago, ILL. (Vocus) August 6, 2009 -- The latest poll performed by Time concerning the US private health insurance system found that many Americans feel large changes are needed in the system rather than small adjustments. However, many polled worry that the changes will complicate private healthcare insurance, increase the costs and limit their choice. PrivateHealthInsurance.net discusses the latest poll findings and what the results mean for US families in need of coverage.
The total of 86% of Americans polled state they are satisfied with their current private healthcare insurance; however, 55% believe the current system needs major reform. Although this large percentage says they are satisfied, when asked more questions about their increasing premiums and whether it is sustainable, many say their premiums are increasing faster than their pay checks and it will not be affordable in the future. In addition, 33% of people are worried they could lose their health insurance in the next 12 months.
Fears about the changes in healthcare coverage are apparent. Of those polled, 62% believe the final healthcare legislation will likely raise their costs in the long run as where 56% believe they will have less freedom to choose doctors and coverage. In addition, 65% worry that the system will become more complicated.
