Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, today announced that Ted R. Mannen, Paul M. Campbell and Annemarie V. Wouters, who focus on reimbursement, coverage and health policy in the pharmaceutical, life sciences and device fields, have joined the firm's Healthcare Practice and its policy and business advisory unit, Manatt Health Solutions, in Washington D.C.
"Ted, Paul and Annemarie are an established and well-respected team that provides highly sophisticated reimbursement and coverage counseling, healthcare policy and business planning capabilities. They enable us to bring a whole new array of counseling services to our clients and immediately complement existing Manatt resources that already provide services across a broad range of issues to life sciences and other clients in these key industry segments," said Bruce S. Wolff, administrative partner for the Washington D.C. office. "We are delighted that they have elected to join us as a group, and look forward to their help in servicing our growing array of clients with interests in these areas."
Mannen, Campbell and Wouters provide advisory services on health policy and third-party insurance coverage and reimbursement to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device and diagnostics companies and associations, as well as to other organizations interested in life sciences issues. Areas of focus include strategic planning for introduction of innovations into reimbursed markets; Medicare and other federal/state regulatory issues; and public policy analytics, positioning, and surveillance. Mannen joins as a partner, Campbell as a managing director and Wouters as a senior advisor.
The arrival of these newest members of Manatt's Healthcare Practice continues the firm's strategic expansion in healthcare legal and business advisory services and follows a number of significant recent additions, including the arrival earlier this year of Dan Higgins (a prominent healthcare transactional and finance partner based in San Francisco) and Bob Fabrikant (a well-known healthcare litigator based in Washington, D.C.), as well as the affiliation also announced earlier this year with consultant Ian Spatz, the former Vice President of Global Health Policy for Merck.
"Life sciences organizations face an increasingly complex environment as innovation comes under new pressures," Mannen said. "Manatt has the platform, systems, and perspective to apply deep and diverse health care knowledge to the practical needs of individual clients. We look forward to contributing."
Before joining Manatt, Mannen was a member of the Healthcare and Life Science Practice at Epstein Becker & Green PC, as well as president of that firm's consulting affiliate, EBG Advisors, Inc. Campbell and Wouters were also members of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Practice, with Campbell serving as managing director and Wouters as a senior advisor of EBG Advisors.
Mannen graduated from Northwestern University School of Law (cum laude) and earned his B.A. (high honors) from Southern Illinois University. Campbell earned a M.S. from Georgetown University and B.A./B.S. from Saint Peters College. Wouters earned a Ph.D. and M.A. from Boston University and B.S. from Wesleyan University (cum laude).
