Mimosa Systems, the leader in next-generation email archiving, file archiving, and SharePoint archiving solutions, today announced that South Jersey Healthcare (SJH), has selected the Mimosa NearPoint(TM) archiving solution for data protection and disaster recovery of vital email data. The leading community healthcare provider in southern New Jersey, SJH will leverage Mimosa's unified archiving solution as part of the organization's comprehensive archiving strategy to facilitate HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements.
SJH is a nonprofit, integrated healthcare system, providing access to a continuum of health services for a service population of more than 375,000 residents throughout southern New Jersey. The leading provider delivers healthcare services from two regional hospitals, numerous community health centers, along with delivering a range of home health and specialty services. A significant economic force in its community, SJH employs approximately 3,000 people making it the largest employer in Cumberland County, N.J.
With its growing network of healthcare facilities and services, SJH had an increasing need to better archive and protect its mounting volumes of email data which were topping 4TB in storage capacity. The fast-paced provider needed to better ensure rapid data recovery in the event of data loss while assuring compliance to HIPAA regulations. It also required the ability to streamline eDiscovery and search processes along with an ability to eliminate the risk of data corruption that often comes with archiving email data in local system PST files.
"Before we implemented Mimosa NearPoint we faced very slow email mailbox restore times," said Andrew Gahm, systems and security engineer, SJH. "MAPI backup processes were slowing us down and we had no features to perform needed searching, PST archiving, or eDiscovery. NearPoint cuts out many of the time consuming steps required for email recovery so we can perform operational recoveries much more quickly."
SJH implemented Mimosa NearPoint which is used along with an HP StorageWorks MSA20 SAN Storage Array. The key features of Mimosa NearPoint that SJH finds of most value include:
-- Next-generation Architecture: Mimosa NearPoint's unique architecture does not require journaling or any agents on either the Exchange Server or user desktops. This ensures that there is no impact on SJH's production Exchange Server performance.
-- Efficient eDiscovery: Mimosa NearPoint has several features that expedite the eDiscovery process for SJH by leveraging complete content capture. These features include individual item-level legal holds, conversation and proximity analysis, and an intuitive search within a search -- while demonstrating chain of custody as archived content moves through the workflow.
-- PST Archiving: Using NearPoint, SJH's IT staff can manage offline email contained in PST files. The NearPoint PST Archiving Option crawls and uploads PST files to the NearPoint archive, where they are centrally managed and searched for email discovery.
-- Simple "One-Click" Recovery: Mimosa NearPoint gives SJH complete disaster recovery of Exchange data to the primary Exchange Server. SJH administrators enjoy the speed of recovering an entire Exchange database at disk-to-disk speeds with simple "point-and-click" operations.
"At Mimosa, we are dedicated to enabling today's healthcare providers to easily comply with HIPAA regulations while supporting efficient and reliable data archiving and recovery," said T.M. Ravi, CEO, Mimosa Systems. "Healthcare is one of the fastest growing market categories to embrace the power of the NearPoint email, file and SharePoint archiving solution. We are pleased to provide the efficient and compliant solution our healthcare customers, including SJH, need to support the delivery of their high-quality patient care."
