Med-Mal Insurers Plan A Fight To Keep Antitrust Exemption

The Senate Democratic leader ship said they are looking to change insurers, medical practice and the repeal of the exemption for health insurers.
Lawrence E. Smarr, president of the Physician Insurers Association of America, based in Rockville, Md., said that the comments of President Obama support the repeal in his weekly address that Saturday is the confirmation of the industry believes that the Senate plans of act on the measure.
President Obama said health insurers are "deployed heavy artillery in a" last effort to stop the reform. "
"And they can make profits and bonuses while enjoying a privileged exception of our antitrust issue as Congress considers rightly," he added.
