Legislation has been introduced in response to what some members of Congress felt this was unfair attacks by people they associated with the insurance industry as sponsors of the reform of health care.
They accused the bills are "an attempt to radically rewrite the antitrust laws for a certain segment of the insurance business" and argued that those supporters have "a much broader, but the timing unknown."
A joint letter was sent to the Directorate of the Judicial Committee of the House expressed its "resolute opposition" to the "Health Insurance Industry Antitrust Enforcement Act of 2009." Bills have been introduced as HR 3596 in the House and Se. 1681 in the Senate.
