What is a discount medical program?

Discount medical programs are “savings clubs” that offer an easy way to pay less for health care. Enrolling in these programs is usually inexpensive, and can save you as much 50% with participating doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies.
Why join one of these programs? Many people join them because they’ve been turned down for health insurance coverage because of a serious pre-existing health condition. Other people join them because their health plans don’t cover prescription drugs, and they want to save money on their medications.
It’s important to remember that discount medical programs are not insurance plans. A health insurance plan typically puts a limit on how much you’ll have to pay “out-of-pocket” for health care. A discount medical program will not. You’ll simply get a discount on your bill.
