Committee Members Urge Aetna & Anthem to Reverse Decision to Eliminate Child-Only Plans in California

Today Representatives Henry A. Waxman, Anna G. Eshoo, Lois Capps, Jane Harman, and Doris O. Matsui sent letters to Anthem Blue Cross of California and Aetna Health of California regarding recent reports that the companies will stop offering new child-only health insurance policies in California.
In the letter, the representatives urge the companies to reconsider the decision, and state, "By exiting the child-only health insurance market, you reinforce a public perception that some health insurance companies are more interested in denying than providing coverage. Further, your irresponsible action places an unfair burden onto those more responsible insurance carriers that remain available for families in California seeking child-only policies.?"
