PICC Health Insurance Reaps CNY69mn Net Profit

Sun Life Everbright Life Insurance Co., Ltd. reaped CNY 5.106 billion in premiums last year, surging 243% year on year.

The year-on-year surge is almost eight times the industry average. With rapid business growth, the life insurer's market share was triple that a year ago and ranking in the nationwide life insurance market advanced eight positions.

PICC Health Insurance Co. got CNY 69 million net profit in 2010, up 114.58% year on year. The company has been in the black for consecutive two years. Its premiums for 2010 rose by 49.81% to CNY 9.29 billion. It takes a 15% weight in the domestic health insurance sector and a 96% weight among the country's specialist health insurers.

PICC Health Insurance underwrote 267 government-backed projects, which covered 89 municipalities and cities in 22 provinces and served over 35 million population.
