PLAYA VISTA, Calif., April 7 / PRNewswire / - The insurance program

Automotive X PRIZE, a competition of several million dollars to inspire

new generation of viable, super fuel-efficient vehicles, today announced its

official list of 111 teams registered.

After passing this first wave of work, these teams move from one stage

closer to the competition for their share of $ 10 million scholarship prize to be

assigned to teams that win a rigorous long distance stage competition and may

exceed 100 MPG equivalent fuel (mPGES).

The teams, which are 136 entries with 14 vehicles

different sources of energy, a diverse group of 25 U.S. states and 11

country. Establishment of automobiles, new start-ups, universities and

inventors are among those represented. Six teams of registration will remain

confidential.

In the coming months, teams of registration will be subject to evaluation based design

on a detailed presentation of measurement data, which will provide information on their

vehicle characteristics, production capacity, security and business plans. These


passing Judging Design moves into the testing and performance

participate in a test series which starts in May

2010. The winners will be announced in 2010.

The start date of competition, the number of sites, and the geographical area

distribution sites will be established before July 2009.

The winners will be chosen from two classes in the Division of competition --

Earlier this year the competition has announced details of a demonstration

Division designed specifically for large, established car manufacturers

to present their latest fuel-efficient vehicles. The entry in this division

remain open until the summer.
