Pulte Homes Inc. is buying Centex in an all-stock $1.3 billion deal that will create the country's biggest homebuilder.
Alcoa Inc., up 27 cents at $8.06
The aluminum maker reported a loss in its first quarter as prices and demand dropped, but analysts said it is doing a good job cutting costs.
Constellation Brands Inc., down 59 cents at $11.05
The wine giant said it lost $406.8 million in its fiscal fourth quarter, falling short of Wall Street expectations, as sales slid 17 percent.
Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., up $1.14 at $9.59
The insurance company's stock soared following on a report that the Treasury Department will offer bailout funds to life insurers, which have had big losses on their investment portfolios in the past year.
Family Dollar Stores Inc., up $1.97 at $34.63
Profit in the second quarter jumped by a third for the discount retailer, and sales should grow between 7 and 9 percent in the third quarter.
ProLogis, up 38 cents at $7.20
The distribution-facility owner said it priced 152 million shares at $6.60 a share in a public offering, which will raise more than $1 billion.

Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., up $6.19 at $31.70
Same-store sales slid, but a fourth-quarter profit of $141.4 million, while down from last year, topped analysts' estimates for the home furnishings retailer.
Juniper Networks, up $1.89 at $17.51
The network equipment maker affirmed that its net income would meet Wall Street expectations of 17 cents a share, even as its sales guidance fell short.
