DOVER, Del. (AP) _ Chemical maker DuPont Co. reported a 59 percent drop in first-quarter profit Tuesday, citing a severe decline in global industrial demand.
ATLANTA (AP) _ Delta Air Lines Inc., the world's biggest airline operator, said Tuesday it was instituting a $50 fee for most passengers to check a second bag on an international flight _ a first among major U.S. carriers _ as it reported a $794 million first-quarter loss due to the weak economy and bad bets on fuel hedges.
WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) _ Steel maker AK Steel Holding Corp. says it posted a first-quarter loss compared with a year-earlier profit, hurt by the recession and declining orders from the auto industry.
MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Johnson Controls, which makes both automotive and building systems, says it posted a $193 million fiscal second-quarter loss, on a steep drop in sales stemming from the continued decline in vehicle production.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Health insurer UnitedHealth Group Inc. posted a slightly smaller profit on a decline in investment income and higher costs but still topped analyst expectations.
