ATLANTA, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- To support insurance companies as they focus on improving operational efficiency and effectiveness, LOMA has developed and launched Improving the Bottom Line: Insurance Company Operations, a new course aimed at helping employees understand their role in insurance operations and how their individual efforts affect their company's financial success. The new course also completes the curriculum for LOMA's Need 2 Know series of learning and development programs.

"In order to be truly effective, employees need to know how their jobs fit in the big picture," said Kathy Milligan, FLMI, Vice President, Education & Training at LOMA. "Once they understand the relationships among the operating areas, they are much more likely to become involved in process innovation and creative problem-solving."

Improving the Bottom Line: Insurance Company Operations (LOMA 291) uses video vignettes and other highly media-rich online experiences to teach insurance operations. Learners "virtually visit" major operational areas in an insurance company to learn how functions and inter-departmental relationships play key roles in a company's overall performance.

The course connects learners through four interactive modules:

-- The Big Picture: Offers a look into corporate structure and enterprise risk management. -- Product Administration: Takes learners into product distribution, new business and underwriting, customer service and claims. -- Marketing & Product Development: Guides the learner through the introduction and evaluation phases of new products, as well as the marketing aspects tied to them.

-- The Bottom Line: Provides a view of accounting, financial reporting, investment and treasury operations, audit and profitability and capital management.
