Web Portal a Resource for Information and Discussion
DETROIT, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Summit will be held June 15-17 at the Marriott Renaissance Center in Detroit, but the conversation has already begun in The National Summit eCommunity, a content rich web portal accessible to those registered for the event.
The online content, supplied by The National Summit Knowledge Partners - Deloitte, Ernst & Young, McKinsey & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers - provides insights and perspectives on the topics slated for discussion throughout the three-day event. Offering a broad range of content across key issues impacting four disciplines - Technology, Energy, Environment and Manufacturing -the forum delivers the opportunity for registrants to understand and discuss multiple perspectives before, during, and after The National Summit.
"The eCommunity allows participants to gain knowledge of the four disciplines we are addressing, see different points of view and express their own opinions," said Beth Chappell, president and CEO of the Detroit Economic Club (DEC). "It is one of the many innovative features that make The National Summit such an engaging and exciting initiative."
For the eCommunity and at The National Summit, Ernst & Young will coordinate the discussion for Technology; PricewaterhouseCoopers for Energy; McKinsey & Company for Environment; and Deloitte for Manufacturing.
"One of the primary reasons for convening The National Summit is to stimulate conversation on important, timely, and critical topics impacting the ability of the United States to compete in a global market," said Joe Vitale, principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP and Knowledge Partner leader of the Manufacturing Discipline. "The presentations and discussions planned during The National Summit are important, but forums like the eCommunity are also vital to promoting ongoing dialogue, understanding the cadre of perspectives, and developing actionable plans that address these issues."
For example, in an effort to drive discussion, Deloitte has posted the following content related to structural costs, one of four Manufacturing Town Hall themes slated for discussion during The National Summit:
-- In a booming economy, companies tend to focus more on growing revenue
and market share than on managing costs and operating efficiencies.
But when the economy slows, they must find ways to do more with less
-- particularly within supply chains. For most business leaders, the
first instinct is to cut costs. But is that really the best way to
start?
Registered participants can view more and join in these online discussions, by visiting The National Summit eCommunity. Limited tickets remain available, and can be purchased by going to NationalSummit.org and clicking on Registration.
