Avalon Healthcare signs agreement with Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center

TAMPA, Florida - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Avalon Healthcare, Florida, the state increasingly rapid individual and group health insurance, has signed an agreement with the supplier of the Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, said Charles T. O'Neill, Avalon's Chief Executive Officer. The agreement entered into force on 15 April 2009. Both hospitals are owned and operated by Universal Healthcare Services, Inc, located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Collectively, the hospitals provide 439 beds in Manatee County.
"A direct relationship with the two hospitals create a more competitive cost structure of Avalon, which will result in lower premiums for consumers,"? O'Neill said. "The high quality of care provided to each hospital is a great benefit to our members."?

Avalon Healthcare has signed direct contracts with the BayCare Health System in Tampa Bay (nine hospitals), Lee Memorial Hospital System in Lee County (four hospitals), NCH Health System in Naples (two hospitals), Winter Haven Hospital, IASIS Hospital System in Tampa Bay (three hospitals), the Hospital of the University of Tampa Bay (three hospitals), Tenet hospitals in South Florida (ten hospitals), the North Broward Hospital System (four hospitals) Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Mt Sinai Hospital, Lake Wales and Bartow Regional Regional Hospital.
Manatee Memorial has served the Manatee County over 55 years. The 319-bed acute care is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., one of the largest and most respected management companies in the hospital in the country. Patients have access to more than 400 physicians on staff, plus staff and consultants with a wide range of specialties ranging from family medicine to vascular surgery.
