"Don Hairston has extensive experience in health care and a proven track record in management that will be an asset to the Texas plan," said J. Mario Molina, M.D., president and chief executive officer of Molina Healthcare, Inc. "David Pollack has also demonstrated outstanding leadership as the chief operating officer for the Florida plan and we are confident that he will continue to do so in his new role. By leveraging the talents of existing company executives such as Don and David and moving them to other positions within the company, we are able to ensure continuity and preserve our institutional knowledge."
Hairston, a longtime Texan, started his health care career in the Lone Star State more than 30 years ago with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and has held numerous senior leadership positions in Texas and Florida since. He was the president of El Paso First Health Plans, Citrus Healthcare in Florida and also served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of AvMed Health Plan in Florida. Hairston received an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin, a master's degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and completed the Executive Program in Managed Health Care at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Pollack joined Molina with nearly 20 years of experience in various operational and financial positions in the health care industry. He started his career as an accountant at Ernst & Young and went on to become the vice president of portfolio operations at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. There, he oversaw the university's investments in diverse health care entities. He also served as president of Neighborhood Health Partnership, Inc., a South Florida managed care plan.
