GoHealthInsurance Consumers Contradict Commonwealth Fund Health Insurance Survey, Illustrating Benefits of Technology

But a consumer survey of those who used the free service at GoHealthInsurance.com to shop for individual health insurance told a very different story.
According to the Commonwealth survey, 47 percent of adults who tried to buy individual coverage said it was "very difficult or impossible to find coverage they needed." In contrast, 67 percent of GoHealthInsurance.com consumers who used the service to view quotes online said the process on the site was "easy" when asked their overall impression of GoHealthInsurance's shopping process.
This data disparity highlights the importance of user-friendly insurance-finding tools that are available free at GoHealthInsurance.com.
The Commonwealth survey also found almost three-quarters of respondents said they never bought a plan and 57 percent "found it very difficult or impossible to find affordable coverage."
GoHealthInsurance consumers, however, revealed nearly one-third actually found a plan using the service. Further, a staggering 81 percent said the price of their plan was equal to or lower than their expectations.
"The conclusion that the individual market isn't a 'viable option' is misleading because thousands of Americans use GoHealthInsurance.com every day and find affordable coverage through our nationwide network of agents or directly through a top carrier," said Mark Colwell, Consumer Marketing Analyst at GoHealthInsurance.com.
"The Commonwealth Fund survey raises legitimate concerns about Americans' access to affordable health insurance," added Colwell. "But from our consumers' responses, we can conclude the problem is not the individual market, it's that consumers require easy-to-use tools -- like those found at GoHealthInsurance.com -- to find affordable coverage and make an informed decision."
The consumer survey conducted by GoHealthInsurance.com included responses from 1,014 adults all of whom used the free service provided by the online health insurance portal.
