Hartford Financial increases stock offering

The company said it saw strong demand from a broad range of investors to the offering announced in June, enabling it to increase the offering by $150 million to $900 million.
The company sold 56.1 million shares.
Hartford said it will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, including the possible repurchase of outstanding debt.
Shares of Hartford rose $1.47 to $17.97 in afternoon trading.
