AIG Names Former Amex CEO Golub As Chairman

American International Group Inc., which today reported its first profit since 2007, has named former American Express Co. chief executive Harvey Golub as its non-executive chairman.
Golub replaces Edward Liddy, who is resigning as both chairman and chief executive officer of the giant financial services firm.
Earlier this week, AIG announced that Robert Benmosche, a former chief of MetLife Inc, would replace Liddy as CEO.
Golub, 70, was elected to the AIG board of directors in May 2009. He Golub was chairman and CEO of American Express from 1993 to 2001. Prior to joining American Express in 1984, Golub was a senior Pprtner with McKinsey & Co. Golub is also the non-executive chairman of Ripplewood Holdings, a private equity firm based in New York. He is a member of the board of directors of Campbell Soup Co., and formerly its non-executive chairman. Golub serves as non-executive chairman for The Reader's Digest Association, and he is also a director of RHJ International, a public investment company based in Belgium.
Incoming CEO Benmosche Golub start their new jobs on Monday, Aug. 10.
AIG reported second-quarter results today.
