AAA Assurance Corp., a general insurer in Vietnam, said it has signed an agreement with U.S.-based International Medical Group to provide global medical insurance.

Through the partnership, the insurer will provide medical insurance to Vietnamese and foreigners living and working in Vietnam, households, businesses and other organizations; as well as special benefits including emergency travel arrangements, lost-bag tracking, legal referrals, transplant surgery, and the right to choose doctors and hospitals globally.

Do Thi Kim Lien, chairwoman of AAA Assurance, said the coverage will extend from children 14 days old to 74-year-old adults. The US$8 million coverage is the highest one offered in Vietnam, for benefits including hospitalization, medical treatment and surgery.

Established in November 2005 and headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, AAA Assurance currently has charter capital of approximately 1.5 trillion dong (US$84 million), with more than 93 branches, sales centers, representative offices across 64 provinces and cities in Vietnam.

Strategic shareholders of the insurer include one of the leading Vietnamese banks, Military Joint-Stock Bank, one of the first Vietnamese privatized banks, Eximbank, and the Denmark-based asset management institution, BankInvest Group.

International Medical Group Inc. has provided medical insurance to individuals, families and groups, with a presence in 170 countries, 8,600 hospitals and 16,000 medical facilities.
