CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) is thrilled to be named as one of the Greater Toronto's Top 90 Employers in 2010 as featured in The Toronto Star today.
The Greater Toronto's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. The special designation recognizes the Greater Toronto employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
CAA SCO provides peace of mind and quality service through our roadside assistance, automotive, insurance and travel businesses.
Known for providing a respectful and enjoyable workplace that promotes personal growth and success CAA SCO serves over 1.8 million members with 1,200 employees across the region.
"For over 100 years CAA has been helping GTA drivers and giving back to the communities where they live," said Cindy Hillaby Vice-President of Human Resources of CAA South Central Ontario. "Everyone who works here takes great pride in the organization and we are very excited about being recognized as one of the best places to work in the GTA."
CAA SCO was chosen as one of the top employers because of its ongoing commitment to its employees. This includes paying financial bonuses to those who refer someone successfully hired by the company. The organization also helps employees save for retirement with pension plan contributions and retirement planning assistance. And it supports alternative work options including flexible hours, telecommuting and 35-hour work week (with full pay).
With environmental issues top of mind, CAA SCO also takes steps to reduce the organizations environmental footprint. It participates in the Smart Commute program in York Region to encourage and provide carpooling. Recycling programs are also in all locations, including recyclable and biodegradable utensils in the corporate cafeteria. The IT department has consolidated its data centre operations, reducing our overall carbon footprint by consuming less electrical power, heating and cooling. Employees also participate in the Autogreen program each year including the Great Battery Round-up and raise thousands of dollars for various charities such as Sick Kids Hospital and the Ontario Association of Food Banks.
