China's insurance assets totaled CNY 3.7 trillion as at September 30, up 2.9 percent from CNY 3.6 trillion as at August 31, according to statistics by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC).
Insurers' investment reached CNY 2.42 trillion, representing a monthly rise of 3.46 percent. The investment began slowing down from last year hurt by the global financial crisis and rose for the first time this year in March, with the growth exceeding CNY 100 billion in July. It dropped CNY 100 billion in August, in which the domestic stock market fell to 2,600 points from 3,400 points, and in September, it increased CNY 81.2 billion.
In addition to recession in the stock market, expanded bond investment should be responsible for the sharp growth. As at September 30, CNY 222.57 billion was invested by insurers nationwide in securities investment funds, Zhou Yanli, vice chairman of the CIRC, said at a conference recently.
