Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (MSIG), a Japan-based non-life insurance company, will firstly focus its resources, including capital, on the Chinese market, a Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance top executive said at the International Consultative Conference of the Future Economic Development of Guangdong Province, which was lately held in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.

Asia takes the first place in MSIG's oversea strategy, and China is the priority, pointed out the top executive. His company will centralize efforts on expanding its risk management solution business in China.

Currently, citing a report, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (China) Co., Ltd. (MSI China) under the aegis of MSIG mainly serves Japanese-funded companies in China. It will consider offering services to other companies, including Chinese-funded ones, in the future.

MSIG set up its first branch in Shanghai in Mainland China in 2001. The branch was upgraded to MSI China in September 2007, as a wholly owned subsidiary of MSIG.
