'Staycations' Proving Popular with UK Holidaymakers

Post Office Travel Insurance research has revealed that two-thirds of UK residents were expected to have holidayed in the UK this August and September , following the popular "staycation" trend.
Post Office Travel Insurance is reminding anyone holidaying in the UK that it is essential to take out travel insurance for any holiday whether at home or abroad, as travel insurance is vital in helping to cover any holiday mishaps that could occur such as transport cancellations, theft or lost items.
Theft and lost items can also be covered by travel insurance, which is good news for holidaymakers who, on average, carry a whopping GBP1,113 value of items in their suitcase , according to Post Office Travel Services research.
Rachel Croft, Head of Post Office Travel Insurance, said: "Post Office Travel Insurance will pay out up to GBP250 if your belongings are lost for more than 12 hours on the outward journey. By law, airlines only have to cover a specified minimum for your baggage, so it's important to make sure you have travel insurance on luggage contents for loss, damage or delay.
"Average claims on Post Office Travel Insurance for UK holidays this year are around GBP645, so failing to have adequate travel insurance cover could leave people seriously out of pocket"
