Richard Augustyn, CEO of NIP Management Corp., Attorney-in-Fact for Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange, announced today the promotion of Lyn W. Winters, to President and Chief Underwriting Officer, effective immediately.
"In addition to strong management skills and proven underwriting experience in the New Jersey medical professional liability insurance market, Lyn brings a deep understanding of Conventus' mission to this role at a critical time," stated Richard Augustyn, CEO. "Lyn joined Conventus in the company's formative years, and has been instrumental in establishing its underwriting management principles, strategies and disciplined approach. She is a talented and highly regarded executive, a New Jersey native and is deeply committed to protecting the interests of Conventus' more than 1,100 member-owners. We are all confident that Lyn is the perfect choice."
Ms. Winters has over 30 years of experience in the New Jersey medical professional liability insurance market, rising through positions of increasing responsibility at major insurers before joining Conventus in 2003, its first full year of operation. She has achieved a number of insurance industry designations including the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe).
"I am thrilled and honored to be assuming the additional responsibilities of President during such an important period for Conventus," Ms. Winters said. "Conventus' performance is proof that a disciplined underwriting strategy, effective claims & risk management, efficient operations and a relentless pursuit of the best interests of our member-owners achieves superior long-term results. I will continue to advance our core values to safeguard a one of a kind insurance option for New Jersey physicians in private practice. Providing quality care in today's ever changing health care environment is a dynamic challenge. Physicians should not have to worry about their insurance company standing beside them defending their standard of care or offering affordable insurance protection. My goal is to make sure our member-owners don't need to worry about these risks and can focus their full attention on their patients and their practice."
About Conventus: Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange is the only medical professional liability insurance company in New Jersey that is 100% owned and governed by its physician members. Conventus is a non-assessable reciprocal insurance exchange that is managed by experts in the property and casualty insurance industry. Its management team has extensive experience in medical professional liability insurance and in managing underwriting results for companies like Conventus.
