State Farm Insurance of the United States announced Friday the company plans to expand their employment force across the U.S. and Canada by 3,000 in customer service-based sectors, as well as the addition of 900 insurance agents.
State Farm spokesperson Holly Anderson told Xinhua that the company was "focused on beefing up our customer service response," and that the majority of the hiring positions were consequently in customer service, claims and IT systems.
Anderson said State Farm hoped to have the positions filled by the end of this year, and that many had already been posted on the website's career section, ready to accept applications.
The United States' largest provider of auto insurance with additional policies in the home and life market sectors, State Farm currently employs more than 65,000 people and 17,800 agents.
The news came only hours after the latest numbers released by the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics showed total nonfarm payroll employment in the country had risen by 243,000 in January, and the unemployment rate had decreased to 8.3 percent.
