Security costs treble Buffett modest wage
As billionaires go, Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett is a modest man.
He does not live in a mansion. He has no private jet. He did not even have a company car. His annual salary of $ 100,000 has been for years. However, it would seek more money from the fee for the service he receives on the boards of companies in which Berkshire Hathaway has holdings.
But according to a recent proxy statement, Mr. Buffett received a little good, given his salary, an extra batch of Berkshire Hathaway this year. The company paid him $ 315,709 for the house and `` security service personnel.''
Although the attorney does not go into detail about why the company felt compelled to provide as much security for Mr. Buffett, the Oracle of Omaha was the target of an apparent robbery attempt in 2007 at a time when he had a security guard at his home.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, a man in dark clothes and camouflage face painting showed Mr. Buffett sounded and the door bell. The wife of Mr. Buffett has contacted a security guard, who have mastered the man and forced him to abandon what proved to be a fake gun. The man escaped.
Most managers would not be three times more for the security of their salary, but again, most major leaders draw the salaries of many multiples of what Mr. Buffett receives. In view of Mr. Buffett's history of rewarding shareholders, an additional $ 315,709 for the safe May be regarded as quite a good deal.
