CLE Credits Offered at Life Insurance Settlement Association Compliance Conference

A recent article in Investment News warned companies of the dangers of not investing resources into their respective compliance departments. Failure to heed that warning could cost companies more in resulting fines than the cost of any immediate investments in the retention of and education for their compliance personnel.
The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) advises compliance specialists to protect their company's business interests by attending the 2009 LISA Life Settlement Compliance Conference. The conference is to be held on October 1-2 in Orlando, Fla. The Life Settlement Compliance Conference is the only national conference that is solely geared towards educating compliance professionals. Attendees benefit from valuable insight into today's major regulatory and legal issues, exchange ideas with compliance professionals and catch a preview of the issues to come.
Conference topics range from discussions on the Mutual Benefits court case from a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission official who played a significant role in the case to a session on the latest events that have occurred since the IRS issued its Revenue Rulings on settlements. Attorneys who attend the conference may also be eligible to receive up to five Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits. The Life Settlement Compliance Conference offers more CLE credit opportunities than any other conference in the life settlement industry.
Conference attendees will learn from leading industry experts on how to meet the core challenges of compliance with state laws and regulations, while upholding the highest standards of business conduct and ethics in the life settlement industry. The event will also feature panel discussions and a networking luncheon. The full conference agenda and a list of featured speakers are available at: www.thevoiceoftheindustry.com/conference/2009/complianceconference/complianceconference/.
The conference is open to LISA members and non-members alike. This two-day event will be held at the luxurious Peabody Orlando hotel in the heart of the city's entertainment district.
"We understand that businesses are cutting back in certain areas. However, the existing laws and compliance-related issues in our industry have continued to change while new ones have emerged at a rapid pace," says Daniel Harris, Director of Government Affairs for LISA. "The need to monitor and understand these issues is greater than ever. Last year, we were able to provide our attendees with the most timely compliance information in the life settlement industry. This year, our focus remains on educating our attendees by creating forums for insightful dialogue on the most significant issues faced by the settlement community. If you want an in-depth view of the current regulatory landscape and the dramatic changes of late, come listen to our distinguished speakers. You will not be disappointed."
