United MetLife Insurance Company, Ltd. had a branch started operation in Sichuan Province, southwest China on July 22, 2010.
The new one is the third provincial level branch under the insurance giant in Mainland China, following the previous two ones in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and the first branch after the giant acquired Sino-US MetLife Insurance Company Limited.
By far, there are ten Sino-foreign life insurance firms in the province.
The Sichuan branch is designed to offer tailored insurance products on basis of advanced experience of Sino-US MetLife Insurance and local demand. Together with current branch in Chongqing, it will lay the ground for the expansion in second-tier cities in West China.
Pursuant to data issued by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, Sichuan took the seventh place in the nation by original insurance premium revenue in 2009, which has provided a wide space as well as a good opportunity for the development of the life insurance industry.
