Tianjin-based Sun Life Everbright Life Insurance Co. has received approval of China Insurance Regulatory Commission for opening Henan branch, its fifth branch in China.
The insurer now has Shanxi branch, Sichuan branch, Shenzhen branch and Suzhou branch in operation. It is expecting to set up a nationwide network of outlets by 2012.
Based on the Henan branch's three-year plan, it will focus on bancassurance in the first three-year operation so as to build a leading place in local insurance market, develop group insurance in a diversified way and establish professional individual insurance marketing team. It will strive to accomplish the establishment of sub-branches and marketing offices across Henan province within three years and take a top ten place by business scale.
The life insurer, controlled by China Everbright Group, reaped total premiums of CNY 3.48 billion in the first six months of 2011 based on the old accounting principles, representing a year-on-year rise of 18%.
