Communications Director Honored With NAIC Diamond Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 5, 2009) - The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) recently honored Scott Holeman, Communications Director with the NAIC Diamond Award for its achievements in several iniatives for the organization. Holeman, who joined the NAIC in 2004, was presented the award by the NAIC Acting Executive Vice President and CEO Andrew Beal.
"Under the direction of Scott, he and his team have developed all aspects of the NAIC communications programs," said Beal. "Thanks to Scott's commitment, professionalism and hard work, the role of the Communications Division has expanded exponentially - and became an integral part of how the NAIC business."
Specifically, Beal recognized the following achievements:
Web Site Traffic - annual traffic on the website at this time last year was 3.1 million visitors (up 214 percent compared to 2006). Web site traffic this year is 5 million euros, up 40 percent over the previous year. The NAIC Web site now receives about 14,000 visits per day.
Insure U - Since its launch in March 2006, the NAIC-winning Insure U consumer education campaign has reached more than 1 billion media impressions. This year, the Insure U program has been expanded to include advice and information on four new situations in life.
Public Service Announcements - This year, the Division of Communications has produced a public service announcement on the long-term care insurance, which reached an audience of 236 million dollars, and a PSA on preparedness disasters, which reached 10 million viewers. In 2007, the "fight against insurance PSA reached an audience of 25 million.
Media Relations and Outreach - The Communications Division is responsible for disseminating information on the NAIC in several different ways, including: the creation of videos, get appearances for regulators in the profiles of media such that The Wall Street Journal, CNN and CNBC, the dynamic creation of publications such as the Annual Report and the Daily News during the NAIC's quarterly meetings.
PIO and Support Forum - The Communications Division plans and organizes an annual session of instruction in the state of the information called PIO Forum. The Division also creates and distributes press releases and other materials that can be used by the insurance-related consumer awareness.
