Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer believes he still has a public function to discuss issues he knows about and cares even though he resigned in disgrace, he told CNN.
In an interview to be broadcast Sunday, Spitzer said he was to blame for the end of his political career. He resigned after a federal investigation found that he had used a high-priced escort services.
The interview Spitzer is the first on television since his resignation last year. He recently started writing a column for the online magazine Slate.
In the interview, Spitzer - who has investigated the insurance giant American International Group Inc. during his eight years as attorney general of New York - discussed the bailout and the public about the bonuses paid to employees of AIG. He said that the outrage over AIG and other scandals will create problems for President Barack Obama.
I think one of the largest and most difficult tasks he has to control the anger brewing in the public sympathize with him and to obtain, but using it to get a good policy, not the policy based on anger, "he says.
