Markel Appoints Executive Underwriting Officer

Markel Corp. said it has appointed Nathan J. Warde as executive underwriting officer. Warde will oversee Markel's property lines operations in the United States.
Warde, who has almost 30 years experience in underwriting and insurance operations, most recently was president for Aspen Insurance U.S. and chief executive officer for Aspen Specialty. Prior to joining Aspen Specialty Insurance Co., he was executive vice president for Arch Insurance Group. There, he led the strategic development of Arch's entry into the U.S. specialty property marketplace.
Markel (NYSE: MKL) markets and underwrites specialty insurance products and programs to niche markets. Subsidiaries of Markel Corporation Group have current Best's Financial Strength Ratings of A (Excellent).
