In light of the recent changes to healthcare for visitors to the Channel Islands, EssentialTravel.co.uk has reassured its customers by stating that from 1 April (when the changes take effect) medical costs will be covered by one of its standard insurance policies.
Insurance director Stuart Bensusan has said that the firm recognises the importance of the issue to visitors to the Channel Islands, and is therefore continuing to provide coverage via its standard UK single trip cover.
Some insurers are covering visitors only under a European policy, rather than a more inexpensive UK-wide policy, or otherwise increasing the cost of insurance coverage when visiting the Channel Islands.
There is a risk that some holidaymakers, unaware of the change in regulations, may travel without proper insurance coverage and face the potential prospect of substantial healthcare costs as a result.
Bensusan has urged travellers to make sure that they are suitably protected if they opt to visit the Channel Islands.
Changes to healthcare rules are not the only source of confusion travellers face.
Recently travel insurer AllClear warned against considering the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) as a source of total coverage when going on holiday, advising travellers to make certain they have adequate coverage when going on holiday.
