Travel insurance may cover the ferry cancellations

Holidaymakers whose trips across the English Channel was devastated by the recent blockade set up by the french protesting fishermen were asked to check their travel insurance.

Ferry traffic between Britain and France resumed on Thursday morning (April 16), the french government has worked to address the concerns of seafarers in the country on their fishing quotas.

According to the BBC, including the ferry trips were delayed or canceled at the fight could claim compensation from tour operators and hotel companies.

However, he stressed that people with holiday insurance could be covered, depending on the options they chose when purchasing.

Citing statistics from the Air Transport Users' Council, the news agency also found that tourists who are victims of delays due to overbooking or cancellation may receive compensation from the airline.

But he also noted that the "extraordinary circumstances" such as bad weather or strike could "absolve" the airlines have to pay.
